Ballet dancers in colorful costumes perform in Cinderella.

Cinderella performed by The Russian National Ballet Theatre comes to Rose-Hulman’s Hatfield Hall stage on January 10.

The world’s most famous party guest will again be turning heads and raising eyebrows when the Russian National Ballet Theatre presents Cinderella at Rose-Hulman’s Hatfield Hall on January 10.

Accompanied by Prokofiev’s enchanting musical score, Russia’s finest dancers bring classical ballet back to the Wabash Valley with their performance of one of the most timeless and best-loved fairy tales of all time.

Cinderella, a sweet but mistreated servant girl is excluded by her catty stepsisters and wicked stepmother from a royal ball only to have her fairy godmother grant her wish to attend. Dressed in a beautiful gown, she arrives at the ball where she steals the show and the heart of a handsome prince. Things get complicated at midnight, however, when Cinderella flees the ball just before her gown returns to rags. Only her glass slipper remains behind, leaving the handsome prince the one clue he needs to track down the mysterious object of his love.

With its wide repertoire, talented dancers, beautiful costumes, stunning sets and exquisite lighting, the Russian National Ballet Theater has earned praise from critics around the world. Founded in 1989, the troupe’s mission is to expose audiences in large and small cities alike to the artistry and heritage of classical Russian ballet.
